Hello all been to see Endo dietician  ,she was great very understanding . We discussed what i ate and when . She has come to the conclusion

that I need to see a Physicologist .  Since being diagnosed with Hypo I have developed a bad relationship with food . I am scared to eat ,worried

that if i eat 3 meals a day  I will gain even more weight than I already do when Hypo or even hyper to be honest .I slow down so much

when I am either, as the fatigue is over whelming . She has given me some tips to try until I get an appointment with the Physicologist .

I told her about the forum and she was very interested to hear all about it ,she asked me for the web address . I told her how we all have

battles with our Drs .She said we need to arm ourselves with as much information as possible .I told her we do and that is where the Forum

comes into it's own . She was very impressed and said she would check the forum out ,I think she was thinking on the lines of advising

her patients to join .

Just out of curiosity does anyone else have a problem with food since being diagnosed ?

I will keep you posted  how I get on .  Motherelle x

hello motherelle  :-h

If you dont eat the weight will just stick  !! with no food inside you wont have any calorific energy to burn you should try little little and often approach sometimes this works best with hypos !!

I am so sorry you are feeling scared to eat but you must other wise your thyroid will work against you and put your body into starvation mode creating the opposite effect and that way you will never loose excess weight !!!

Take care motherelle   love anita H xxx

Hi Motherelle!

In Sweden the new hype is LowCarbHighFat or LCHF. Often you cant get proper butter in the supermarket, it is sold out. The Swedish Diet Doc says: to believe fat makes you fat is like believing spinach makes you green.

The theory behind,  and it seems to work very well in practice, is that carbs stimulates insulin production. Insulin stores energy from carbs as fat and tends to make you peckish soon after a meal. Fat, on the other hand, fills you up and doesn't make insulin, so the energy is used but no excess energy stored as there is no insulin.

It is an accepted treatment for diabetics.

Look at the French, they eat lots of nice cheese and are slim. I love cheese!

Unfortunately carbs seem to hide in many nice things like crisps, rice, chips, whole meal bred etc.

On the other hand it seems impossible to loose weight if not properly medicated, but I'm sure you know all about that.
